Background of upazila administration.
No specific information was found behind the naming of Khansama upazila. However, it is said that an Englishman lived in Khansama upazila during the British period. That English gentleman had a Khansama or servant.Later, with the efforts of that Khansama, a market was built in that area. The market is named Khansama after its name. Accordingly, the district was named Khansama on 21st January 1891.This information is available in the land and building register file of the police officer in charge. On 12/12/1982 AD, Mr. Tushar Kanti Barua took charge as the first upazila executive officer.
